Privacy policy
Last updated 9 October 2026.
This is a plain-language policy; it is not legal advice. Have a lawyer review it before relying on it for paid products.
Who we are
Oops, That Cost is a project of Jilla Ventures ("we", "us"). We make short animated videos about everyday money mistakes. Contact: [email protected].
What we collect
- Emails you send us. Your address and whatever you write, so we can reply.
- Sign-ups, later. If we start a newsletter or a chat sign-up (for example through ManyChat on Instagram or Facebook), we collect your name and contact details only when you choose to sign up, and only for what you signed up for.
- Website logs and analytics. Our website runs on Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes technical data such as IP address, browser and pages visited to deliver the site, keep it secure and give us privacy-friendly visitor counts. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking on this website.
- Social platforms. When you like, comment, message or follow us on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or X, that platform handles your data under its own privacy policy. We see what the platform shows us, such as your public username and comment.
- Comments. We read public comments on our posts and use software, including AI tools, to help draft replies. A person on our team approves every reply before it is posted.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your personal data.
- We do not use your data for advertising profiles.
- We do not give financial advice and do not ask for financial details.
How long we keep it
Emails: as long as needed to deal with your message, then up to 2 years. Sign-up data: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Comment records used for drafting replies: up to 2 years. Website logs: as set by Cloudflare, usually days to weeks.
YouTube API Services
Our internal publishing tool uses YouTube API Services to upload our own videos to our own YouTube channel and to read and reply to comments on those videos. By interacting with our YouTube channel or videos, you are also bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
What we access through YouTube API Services: our own channel's details, our own videos, and the public comments people leave on our videos (comment text, the commenter's public display name and the time of the comment). We use this only to show those comments in our private team dashboard so we can reply.
Storage and deletion: we store YouTube comment data on our private server only as long as needed to reply, and we delete it automatically within 30 days. We do not sell it, share it with third parties, combine it with other data, or use it for advertising. If access is revoked, we delete all stored YouTube data within 7 days.
Revoking access: the owner of a connected Google account can revoke our tool's access at any time on the Google security settings page. Anyone can ask us to delete data about them by emailing [email protected]; we act on requests within 30 days.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it, and to send you a copy. If you are in the EU or UK (GDPR) or California (CCPA), these are also your legal rights, and you can complain to your local data-protection authority. Email [email protected]; we reply within 30 days.
Children
Our content is for a general audience and not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you think a child has sent us personal data, email us and we will delete it.
International transfers
We use service providers in several countries, including the United States and the EU (for example Cloudflare, Google and Meta). Your data may be processed there, protected by those providers' safeguards.
Changes
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. Big changes will also be announced on this page.
